Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Zip code — you provide it so price comparisons use stores near you. Stored on our servers, tied to an anonymous account.
• An anonymous account cookie (cs_uid) — a random identifier so your settings persist. It contains no personal information and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
• Purchase history you import (receipts, order exports) — parsed and stored in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers. Receipt prices are sent to our servers only momentarily to compute a split and are not retained there.
• Prices you capture — if you use the browser extension or authorize automatic price checks, product names and prices (never your account credentials or personal data) are stored on our servers, associated with a store and zip code.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not run third-party advertising or ad trackers.
• We never see your store passwords — the extension reads prices from pages in your browser; it does not access your store accounts.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links (for example, to Instacart) may be affiliate links. If you make a purchase after clicking one, CartSplit may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the free product is funded.

Where data lives

Servers are hosted on Vercel; the database is hosted on Neon (US region). Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/HSTS).

Your choices

• Clear your browser's site data to remove imported history and your anonymous account cookie.
• Uninstall the extension at any time to stop price capture.
• Email dahlfreemann@gmail.com to request deletion of server-side data tied to your account, or with any privacy question.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will change and the update will be noted on this page.
